UNFILTERED BEAUTY MIRROR
We proposed a custom mirror designed to discreetly house a creator’s smartphone, allowing them to livestream naturally while maintaining a clean, elegant aesthetic. By treating the phone as the camera and broadcast engine, we eliminated the need for embedded cameras, external computers, or visible wiring, while preserving audio and video quality.
Our Solution
Livestreaming already happens on phones. Asking creators to change their behavior or adopt unfamiliar hardware would introduce friction and degrade authenticity. The simplest solution was also the most human one. If the phone is already the broadcast tool, the mirror should adapt to it.
Insight
Schick wanted to give beauty influencers a tool that supported live, unfiltered streaming as part of the You, Unfiltered campaign. The challenge was creating a mirror that looked beautiful on camera without introducing bulky hardware, visible wiring, or complicated production setups that would disrupt authenticity.
Challenge

Schick approached the project with urgency, aiming to produce a small run of mirrors for influencer seeding ahead of a tight campaign timeline. The mirrors needed to feel premium, align with the brand’s values, and support live content creation across platforms like Instagram Live and YouTube.
Rather than over-engineering the solution, the focus shifted to building a product that respected how creators already work. The mirror needed to disappear into the routine, avoiding it becoming the focal point.
Background

The process began with rapid exploration of existing vanity mirrors, followed by full teardown and evaluation. After testing multiple configurations, a base mirror was selected and modified to support an internal phone mount that could securely hold a variety of devices without interfering with camera position, audio pickup, or lighting.
Custom internal brackets were designed and fabricated to allow phones to slide into place seamlessly, keeping them hidden from view while preserving the correct framing for livestreams. The housing was refined to ensure stability, heat management, and ease of use, while maintaining a clean silhouette suitable for influencer content.
Prototypes were built, tested, revised, and finalized in quick succession to meet the campaign timeline. The result was a purpose-built mirror that felt intentional and ready to ship directly into creators’ hands.
Development

As the Unfiltered Beauty Mirrors made their way to influencers, creators used them to spark more honest conversations with their audiences around beauty standards and self-image. The mirror allowed livestreams to feel personal and unfiltered, reinforcing the message behind the campaign while showcasing Schick’s product in a natural, credible context.
By removing technical barriers and letting creators focus on connection, the mirror became an enabler of conversation rather than a topic of conversation itself.
